Acctivate is a club meeting on Saturdays for children 5-12 with autism. Current activities include computers, board games, lego, art, outdoor fun and a sensory room.
The club is run by Autistic Children and Carers Together (ACCT), which is a parent-led support group for young people with autism and their families.
Children aged 5+ can stay without their parents or carers once ACCT staff have registered their details and support needs.
Parents are not currently able to stay due to Covid-19 restrictions ACCT are not currently able to offer a parent/carer room. They are also less able to accommodate siblings at present.
Sessions are run in two ‘bubbles’, each staffed by ACCT Playworkers and supported by ACCT volunteers. Up to 30 children can attend each session. They have a waiting list should the clubs be full so you can text or call on the day of the club to check availability.
In order to attend, you need to have been referred to ACCT by Sheffield City Council. To be referred, you should request an application form by contacting the SNIPS Team at Sheffield City Council on 0114 2735368 or email [email protected]. Once the referral form has been received a member of the SNIPS team will contact you.
Sessions run every Saturday of the year apart from two weeks over Christmas.
