Sheffield Crisis House provides short-term accommodation for people over the age of 18 who are experiencing a mental health crisis. This service can be accessed for a maximum of 5 nights. You can see the eligibility criteria here.

The service is for people who cannot be supported at home, but do not require hospital admission. Staff provide 24-hour emotional and practical support to assist people to resolve their crisis. This can include, exploring a person’s mental health crisis and self management techniques including distraction, anxiety management and various other coping strategies.

The house has 6 bedrooms, one of which is a ground floor bedroom with en-suite. The kitchen, dining area and lounge are all on the ground floor. There is wheelchair access via the back garden.

People who have been discharged from the Crisis House may be able to access Rethink’s Sheffield Mental Health Navigator service.  This can include up to 6 weeks of additional support helping to resolve the causes of the original crisis and implement plans to avoid future crisis. Support is provided face-to-face, by telephone, or through a mixture of the two.

Referrals are accepted from Community Mental Health Teams, Liaison Psychiatry and other secondary mental health services. It is not possible to self-refer to this service.
