Grow is a youth development charity working with those aged 16-24. They combine coaching with nature based projects that aim to help combat isolation, boost wellbeing and develop employability skills.
They currently run 3 main programmes:
- Walk and Talk: Walk and Talk is a mentoring programme. It offers 16-24 year olds who are unemployed and at risk of being isolated to benefit from mentoring. Young people have the opportunity for eight 45 minute mentoring sessions with a trained volunteer whilst on an outdoor walk. The volunteers use coaching techniques to support the young person to identify goals to work towards. This programme can then feed into some of the other activities that GROW offers if appropriate.
- The Grow Programme: The Grow Programme is a 5 week employability programme designed to support you in taking your next steps towards work or training. In addition to employability skills the programme also shares tools to promote your wellbeing. They meet three times a week and do a mixture of group training sessions, 1:1s and practical nature based work experience sessions at a community farm.
- Grow Gardeners: Grow Gardeners is a paid work experience programme for young people want to develop skills in horticulture. Each gardening team includes an experienced gardener and two trainees. They offer high quality and excellent value garden maintenance services in Sheffield.
Referral details are on their website to either self-refer or to make a referral for a young person.
