Home Library Service (HLS) is run by Sheffield Central Library. They bring books, CDs, DVDs and Jigsaw puzzles to people who find it hard to get out to their local library.
Who is elligable?
Any Sheffield resident:
- who is unable to get to their local library and has no-one to help them do so
- who has no-one to visit the library for them
- who may be able to get to the library but cannot carry the books they’ve chosen
This includes but isn’t limited to the elderly or people with mobility issues. If a person struggles to leave their house because of anxiety or depression, or because they are a full time carer, they could be referred or self-refer to HLS. They may also be able to offer the service on a temporary basis, for example whilst an individual is recovering from an operation.
To check if you are eligible, or to arrange a visit please contact HLS by telephone: 0114 273 4277 or email: [email protected]
When you contact the Home Library Service, they will talk to you about your reading interests and what you enjoy. Based on this, each month they will bring you a selection of materials which may include:
- hardback
- paperback
- large print
- books on CD
