Liaison Psychiatry Service provides mental health assessment and care to patients (16 years and over) of Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Referrals are taken from the Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust only.
Sheffield Teaching Hospitals refer patients who:
- Have diagnosed or suspected mental health problems and who need additional help during their hospital stay
- Have psychological difficulties as a consequence of a physical illness
- Have self harmed or are expressing suicidal ideas/plans.
Liaison Psychiatry usually sees people who are inpatients within the hospitals or who attend the Accident and Emergency Department but also provides a service to some people who attend regular outpatient clinics within the hospitals.
Referrals from Sheffield Teaching Hospitals only. The service is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
