Beech (formerly at Wainwright Crescent) is a residential unit providing ‘step-down’ support for service users discharged from Sheffield Health and Social Care (SHSC) inpatient wards.
Their beds are a step-down for people leaving inpatient wards before they are fully discharged back into the community. It is a safe place where residents can focus on themselves and their recovery, and rebuild their confidence without the worries of day-to-day life.
Accommodation is self-catering and meals are not provided. Service users have a private bedroom with en-suite bathroom, and access to communal lounges, dining areas, kitchen and garden.
Following assessment of their mental and social care needs, service users work together to complete a collaborative care plan and a risk safety plan. These plans identify goals with the aim being to live independently or in supported accommodation. Support can include daily living skills such as shopping, medication, budgeting, cooking and self-care.
Their Discharge Facilitator also offers support with housing, accessing benefits and if appropriate, employment.
The majority of referrals come from the SHSC trust’s inpatient wards.
Beech runs 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and they welcome visitors between the hours of 8am – 10pm every day.
