Project 6 Sheffield (formally Sheffield Alcohol Support Service (SASS)) is a local charity which delivers services for individuals with drug and alcohol addictions and complex needs.
They work across Yorkshire and provide the following services in Sheffield:
Alcohol Recovery Community (ARC)
The Alcohol Recovery Community (ARC) offers hope, choice and opportunities for adults in or aiming to make changes to their alcohol use.
ARC runs groups 7 days a week with the help of volunteers who have lived experience and are in recovery from dependency. The ARC understands recovery as more of a life change that encompasses self worth, confidence, meaningful, healthy relationships with yourself and others and wellbeing.
ARC accepts self-referrals as well as from professionals. They also provide advice and support to people concerned by someone else’s drinking. Individuals can refer to ARC through the website or by calling 0114 258 7553.
Fresh Start
Fresh Start is a project to support mothers who have had one or more children accommodated by the local authorities. Participants are supported to access:
- Drug and alcohol services
- Loss and grief support – inc. childhood experience
- Health services – sexual health inc. accessing contraception, GP, dental, etc.
- Education and employment services
- Housing services
This support can be accessed for approximately 9 months. To find out more, email [email protected]
Training
Project 6 also have a training arm who provide a range of vocational training around working with a range of vulnerable groups.
