Key Information
- In person & remote
- Adults (over 18)
Sheffield Carers Centre provides support, information and advice for adults who provide unpaid care for family and friends who are disabled, ill, frail, have mental health problems or addiction issues. Carers might be caring for more than one person, and doing so for varying amounts of time.
All unpaid carers in Sheffield can access support from Sheffield Carers Centre by registering on their website. Carers then receive a Welcome Pack and the regular Newsletter featuring useful information, key dates, top tips and other advice. Registering also gets you a Carer Card which provides discounts and offers on a range of products and services.
Carer’s needs assessment
All Carers now have the same legal rights as the people they care for, to have their needs assessed. Sheffield Carers Centre is responsible for carrying out Carers Needs Assessments for adult carers on behalf of Sheffield City Council. This process looks at how a caring situation is impacting your life, and the measures that can be taken in order to improve your wellbeing. Carers under the age of 18 can also have a carer’s assessment and Sheffield Young Carers can provide information on this.
Carer’s advice line
Carers can discuss any aspect of their caring role or the impact it is having on their wellbeing by phoning the confidential Carer Advice Line on 0114 272 8362 (Mon-Fri 10am-4pm) or by emailing [email protected] and speaking to a specialist Carer Adviser.
