Mencap & Gateway Sheffield is a local charity which provides support to more than 300 adults and children with learning disabilities, and their families/carers.
Mencap & Gateway want all people with a learning disability to feel valued, included and respected. The charity aims to help all its members live the life they choose and to achieve the things they want, whether that be making new friends, learning to live independently, accessing education or employment. Its services are available to anyone in Sheffield with a learning disability and all are welcomed without prejudice.
Based at Norfolk Lodge on Park Grange Road, they offer a range of social, learning and support services, including:
- Accredited courses
- Drama and creative writing groups
- Football teams
- Health and nutrition
- Group support for carers
- Evening Gateway clubs – an opportunity for people to see friends, relax and enjoy themselves in a safe and welcoming environment
Norfolk Lodge is a fully accessible building with large grounds, neighbouring Norfolk Park. It has a private car park, links to public transport, changing facilities, large sports hall, two meeting rooms, art room, sensory room, fully equipped kitchen, IT suite and coffee bar.
