Sheffield SEN & Disability Information, Advice & Support service (SSENDIAS) provides impartial information, advice and support to children and young people (aged 0-25) with special educational needs and/or disabilities, and their parents/carers.
Their aim is to empower, enable and encourage parents to take an informed and active part in their child’s education, and related health and social care matters. They also aim for children and young people to be involved in decisions about their own education and futures.
There does not need to be a diagnosis for SSENDIAS to provide advice and support.
They can help you with:
- Explaining legal and statutory processes
- National and Local SEN Policies
- Your rights and options
- SEN Support and The Graduated Response
- Education Health and Care (EHC) Needs Assessment
- Exclusion advice
- Complaints procedures
- Mediation and Appeals
- Communication between you and other services
- Advocacy for children, young people and families
In addition to education they cover a range of matters including health, social care, disability benefits and leisure.
They operate across the city and take referrals from parents, carers and young people. To self refer, email [email protected]Â or phone 0114 2736009.
They provide advice/support over the phone, face-to-face meetings and drop-ins.
