Student Minds is a national student mental health charity.
They aim to empower students and members of the university community to develop the knowledge, confidence and skills to look after their own mental health, support others and create change. They train students and staff in universities across the UK to deliver student-led peer support interventions as well as research-driven workshops and campaigns. By working collaboratively across sectors, they share best practice and ensure that the student voice influences decisions about student mental health.
Student Minds provide support and/or information around:
- Support for students wellbeing: Including providing peer-support programmes, signposting to university staff run workshops and other support at your university. They also provide the Student Space website which is detailed below
- Supporting a friend: Including advice around: starting a conversation with a friend; looking after yourself; and support for specific difficulties. There’s also signposting to local “Look After Your Mate” workshops run by some universities
- Support for parents of students: Providing answers to frequently asked questions
- Useful resources: Including information on different challenges that university life can bring
