Urgent and Crisis Service supports people who are experiencing a crisis with their mental health and/or need urgent help.
If you are in a mental health crisis and / or need urgent help then call 111 and then select the mental health option. A call handler with mental health training from NHS 111 will be able to listen to your concerns and help you get the support you need.
During the call, if they feel you need urgent care and support they will refer you to the Urgent and Crisis Service.
Once a referral is made to the Urgent and Crisis Service, the mental health professionals from that team will, where appropriate, arrange a crisis assessment and intervention within 4-72 hours.
If they feel you do not need a referral to the Urgent and Crisis Service they may provide signposting or refer you to the Community Mental Health Team or Primary and Community Mental Health Team.
The NHS 111 Mental Health Option, Urgent and Crisis Service and the Primary and Community Mental Health Team replace the previous services provided by Single Point of Access (SPA), Emotional Wellbeing Service (EWS) and Out-of-Hours Team.
