Whirlow Hall Farm Trust is an 130 acre working farm that provides activities for disabled, disadvantaged, and inner city children and adults. The trust hosts schools and groups on day and residential visits. Throughout the school holidays, Whirlow Hall Farm Trust provides a wide range of activities which can be found here.
There is also a farm shop that sells home grown produce and a cafe, both open from Wednesday – Sunday, 10am – 5pm, and bank holidays till 3pm.
Volunteering opportunities are also available.
Whirlow L.I.F.E (Life In a Farming Environment)
The Whirlow L.I.F.E programme is for those with additional learning needs and/or those struggling with poor mental health. They have two programmes: one for secondary age children, and one for those over sixteen.
Secondary age children: The Trust provides a supportive and nurturing environment for children who are disengaged from learning or have additional learning needs. Their aim is to help build confidence and self-esteem by providing a wide range of activities that develop vocational and employability skills.
Over 16:Â This programme is for people over 16 who access a personal budget. Participants can explore and develop essential skills for independent living. They focus on farm based vocational skills in animal care and horticulture. The programme runs five days a week, fifty weeks of the year.
