HOPE is a local charity for people who have experienced a bereavement through a fire, road traffic collision or drowning.
They can provide someone to talk to, listen and be there through your traumatic bereavement. They host a peer support group for anyone who has been bereaved in this way or has witnessed a traumatic incident, no matter your age or when the experience of trauma occurred. HOPE will also support you throughout the Criminal Justice process wherever they are needed.
Should you wish to get support and/or access the peer support group please call them on 0114 227 0105 or send them an e-mail to: [email protected] where they will respond to you within 24-48 hours.
HOPE will be able to tell you where the nearest peer support group meeting is. Meetings in Sheffield take place between 6.30pm – 8.30pm on the second Wednesday of each month. Tea/coffee and biscuits will always be available and all are welcome to attend. There is also a monthly meeting in Doncaster on the third Thursday of the month and Barnsley on the last Thursday of the month.
They also have information and advice on their website around Fire Safety, Road Safety and Water Safety.
Alongside this, HOPE works in partnership with professional agencies, community or voluntary networks and other organisations throughout the local area. They also provide information through talks and attendances at conferences and training events, which aim to address the emotional trauma suffered by the deceased’s loved ones.
Children and Young People
Children and young people are welcome to come to the support meetings. There is also information on how they can support you on their website
